Privacy Policy

Obsidian Codex is a bench tool, not a data business. Your specimens, test sheets, photos and notes are stored on your device and, if you enable it, in your own private iCloud account. There are no user accounts, no advertising, and no analytics SDKs.

We do not collect, transmit or store personal information on our servers. Obsidian Codex has no login and no backend that receives your data.

Everything you enter — collection records, weights, dimensions, acquisition details, prices, locations, attached photographs and identification test sheets — is written to the app's local database on your iPhone or iPad.

If you turn on iCloud for Obsidian Codex, your data is synchronised through your personal iCloud account so it appears on your other Apple devices. That data lives in your private iCloud container, governed by Apple's privacy terms. The developer has no access to it and cannot read, recover or delete it.

The app requests access to your photo library or camera only when you choose to attach an image to a specimen. Images are copied into the app's own storage. They are not uploaded anywhere.

Obsidian Codex contains no third-party analytics, no advertising identifiers and no tracking of any kind. Apple may provide the developer with anonymous, aggregated crash and usage statistics if you have opted into sharing them with Apple in iOS Settings; those reports cannot be linked back to you.

Any purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store. Payment details are handled entirely by Apple and are never seen by the developer.

Obsidian Codex is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

You may delete individual records at any time inside the app. Deleting the app from your device removes its local data; disabling iCloud for the app and removing its iCloud data in iOS Settings removes the synchronised copy.

If this policy changes, the revised version will be published on this page with an updated date. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
